In difficulty in qualifying, the two cars eliminated in Q2, the Force India wanted to have a clean start to move up the rankings. But while general attention was focused on both Red Bull, the two drivers from the Silverstone team made contact on the first lap.
« Yes there was a slight contact between us, Explain Sergio Perez at Sky Sport. This slightly damaged my front wing without really unbalancing the car. Overall, it's my worst weekend of the year from a performance and speed point of view. I really struggled with my car and I'm very happy that we were able to move forward."
Both drivers had relatively calm races, quite far from Carlos Sainz and Fernando Alonso even if, at the end of the race, the Frenchman saw Stoffel Vandoorne come back into his exhausts.
« It was a very messy start, adds Esteban Ocon still on the British channel. I only know what happened to Sergio but I think he missed his braking and damaged my bottom even though it could have been worse. But a double finish in the points, especially given our problems every weekend, is a good thing."
With an eighth and a ninth place at the finish of the Hungarian Grand Prix, Force India remains firmly in 4e position in the constructor championship with 60 points ahead of Williams and 83 behind Red Bull Racing.
