For the first time in its history, the train Formula 1 will stop on the Saudi Arabian side. This weekend, the Middle Eastern country is hosting its first Grand Prix near Jeddah and its Corniche.
On site, a 6,174 km long circuit including no less than 27 turns awaits the drivers. This will also be the fastest urban track with an average speed of 252 km/h, and the second all tracks combined. Only Monza and its 260 km/h do better.
All eyes will be on Saudi Arabia where Max Verstappen has the opportunity to be crowned world champion for the first time in his career. For this, several scenarios present themselves to him:
- Win with the best lap and see Lewis Hamilton finish 6th or higher
- Win and see Lewis Hamilton finish 7th or higher
- Finish 2nd with the fastest lap and see Lewis Hamilton finish 10th
- Finish 2nd and Lewis Hamilton does not score points
The weekend program is classic with three free practice sessions spread between Friday and Saturday followed by qualifying and the Grand Prix on Sunday.
