That's it, the first part of the 2022 calendar of the Formula 1 will soon end. But before thinking about the summer break, there is still one last round in the diaries of the 20 drivers on the grid. The Hungaroring returns to Formula 1 for the 36th consecutive time from July 29 to 31.

With a series of several turns and very short straight lines, the Hungarian track is often compared to a track of karting. The circuit, built in the 1980s, is very short (4.381km), with a succession of 8 turns in sector 2 and the narrowness of the track make it a route where overtaking is rare. The first Grand Prix held on the Népliget circuit took place in 1936 and was won by the Italian Tazio Nuvolari. We then had to wait 50 years before seeing Hungary again on the calendar with Nelson Piquet's victory in 1986 ahead of Ayrton Senna.

Last year, the Hungarian Grand Prix was the scene of an unexpected victory, that ofEsteban Ocon. No one really expected to see the Habs climb to the top of the podium but the first corner put them on a royal road. With the rain in full swing, Valtteri Bottas and Lance stroll both missed their braking at the end of the straight causing a succession of collisions. The Norman didn't ask for as much and after resisting Sébastian Hag, the pilot Alpine scored his first career victory in Formula 1. But if there is one driver who has made the Hungaroring his garden, it is Lewis Hamilton and his 8 successes.

Only 5 drivers on the grid have already won the Hungarian Grand Prix in addition to the Briton: Sebastian Vettel (twice), Fernando Alonso (1 times), Daniel Ricciardo (1 time) and Esteban Ocon (1 time). The lap record is held by the seven-time world champion in 1'16"627 in 2020.
