For the penultimate coming of the Formula 1 in Sochi (moving to St. Petersburg in 2023), this 2021 Russian Grand Prix is highly anticipated. If the spectacle is not often there at the event on the shores of the Black Sea, this 8th edition could play a major role in the race for the title, thus adding a little extra spice.
Protagonists of a new incident in Monza two weeks ago, Max Verstappen (Red Bull) and Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) should be the main entertainers of this 15th Grand Prix of the 2021 season. Penalized by 3 places on the grid following the collision in Italy, the Dutchman, under threat from the Englishman in the championship, is forced to give everything on Sunday if he wants to leave Russia still in the shoes of the leader. Enough to predict a new battle between the two strong men of this 2021 campaign.
Russia will also be an opportunity for drivers to return to the classic race format after a Sprint event near Monza two weeks earlier. The weekend will therefore open with two free practice sessions on Friday. The final session and qualifying will follow on Saturday before the Grand Prix on Sunday.
