La Formula 1 makes its return to Europe for the fourth round of the season, in Imola (Italy). Returning to the Formula 2020 calendar in 1, the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari will host the third Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix in history. The Imola circuit had already hosted the world championship in the past, but under other names: the Dino Ferrari GP (1979), the Italian GP (1980) or the San Marino GP (1981- 2006). The last two winners to date are Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) and the outgoing world champion, Max Verstappen (Red Bull).

The novelty of this third edition is based on the first sprint race of the year, the first also on this track after the three tests of 2021 at Silverstone, Monza and Interlagos. The points system has been revised for this 2022 season, with more drivers rewarded at the end of the 100 kilometers covered. The victorious driver will thus pocket eight points and the eighth only one. The winner will no longer be the official Grand Prix pole sitter as that honor will now go to the fastest driver in Friday's qualifying session.

Regarding schedules, Free Practice 1 will take place from 13:30 p.m. on Friday, before qualifying at 17:00 p.m. A second Free Practice session is still scheduled for Saturday, at 12:30 p.m. The Sprint Race will start at 16:30 p.m. the same day. Finally, for the start of the Grand Prix, you will have to be present at 15:00 p.m. on Sunday.
