The Red Bull Ring will host F1 in 2014!

In 26 editions, the Austrian Grand Prix has hosted the F1 seven times on the Spielberg circuit from 1997 to 2003, the last winner being Michael Schumacher which also won in the previous edition. The seven-time world champion will have a successor since Red Bull has just announced the return of F1 next year on the circuit which now bears its name, even highlighting the date of July 6. The Austrian brand has carried out major renovation work on the paddock of the Red Bull Ring (formerly called A1 Ring) which last weekend hosted theELMS and the World Series by Renault. Dietrich Mateschitz, the big boss of the Red Bull, finally reached an agreement with Bernie Ecclestone to the biggest surprise of the paddock.

With the New Jersey and Sochi Grands Prix also scheduled for the 2014 season, next year's calendar could potentially feature 22 races. The director of the FOM could therefore eliminate certain events such as South Korea. The FIA World Council will also have its say, the teams having complained last year of an overly busy schedule.
