Vibrator outside Parabolica removed after Peroni crash

Michael Masi, FIA race director, reacted immediately. In the wake of the spectacular accident suffered by Alex Peroni during the main race F3, the decision was made to remove the tube-shaped curb placed outside the Parabolica, the last ultra-fast corner of the Monza circuit. An intervention which delayed the start of Free Practice 3 of the Italian Grand Prix.

The Campos Racing driver took off on the bolted sausage, veering wide in the legendary curve and hitting the curb from behind. The Australian then performed several spins in the air before falling very heavily onto a wall of tires and into a fence.

By a miracle, Peroni was able to escape from his car and no marshal was killed in the accident. After a visit to the medical center, the young hopeful was sent to the hospital to carry out additional examinations. Several drivers, all championships combined, were quick to criticize the decision to have approved a circuit with such a vibrator concept in the Parabolica.

« The person who decided to put a bolted sausage on the outside of a fast corner like the Parabolica has never driven competitively in their life, tweeted the specialist inEndurance Oliver Jarvis. It’s high time to add gravel and grass. It was a time bomb ».

Remember that a strip of asphalt was added outside the ultra-fast curve in 2014 to accommodate bikers. Jason Plato, double BTCC champion and British touring car legend, was even more virulent in his criticism of the federal body.

« I can't believe the FIA accepted the decision to put this kind of vibration at the exit of the Parabolicahe replied. What’s going on in their brains? You really have to be crazy to do something that dangerous. Holy shit, tell me it's not true ».

Jack Aitken, pilot of Formula 2 and member of the Renault Sport Academy, which had the pain of losing Anthoine Hubert at Spa-Francorchamps last Saturday, for its part urged caution.

« Before people jump to conclusions and call vibrators very dangerous, it looks like the tube has come loose, commented the Briton. Obviously, the situation must be analyzed but let's remember that the people at the FIA are working hard to advance safety and make the right decisions. And it is a very difficult exercise. Very happy to see that Alex is doing well ».
