Apart from the undivided domination of Red Bull From May onwards, one of Ferrari's other black spots in 2022 was reliability. The power unit of Maranello a little too crumbly, Charles Leclerc et Carlos Sainz have been the victims on several occasions, losing enormously in the fight for the titles.

The emphasis was therefore placed on reliability and the work to be done to resolve the problem during the winter on Ferrari's side. This Thursday, the Scuderia completed the 8:30 hours of the first day of pre-season testing without encountering the slightest problem, to the delight of Charles Leclerc.

« We are very happy because the data collected corresponds to what we had during the first simulations at the factory, confided the Monegasque to the microphone of F1TV. Our goal was to try different settings on the car and understand everything well. From now on, we will try to look for a little more performance without revealing everything obviously because these are only tests. It is very important to focus on ourselves because no team is going to show all the potential."

Coming back to reliability, the Scuderia protégé still wanted to calm the enthusiasm, recalling in particular that they had experienced conclusive winter tests in 2022 before the rest was completely different.

« I hope it's not just because we had a good first day, notes Leclerc. Last year we had three days of very clean testing as far as reliability was concerned. I know how much work was done by the engineers in Maranello during the winter. I'm confident it will be better this year. » There is hope among the Reds.
