Failed again for Charles Leclerc. The Monegasque lost his duel against Sergio Pérez in the streets of Singapore. Starting in pole position, the Ferrari conceded the lead of the race from the first corner to the benefit of the Red Bull. In a hunter posture throughout the race, the pilot of the Team could not find the opening on the Mexican and had to give in in the fight, despite the pressure exerted throughout the Grand Prix. “I pushed the whole race!” The bad start placed us in a complicated position. After that it was just a very difficult race. I had a bit of slip at the start and lost position. It was tough, but a good night's sleep and I'll be ready for Japan. »

At the end of the race, Charles Leclerc tried to stay within 5 seconds behind Sergio Pérez. The reason: the Mexican is under investigation by the stewards for having committed an infraction behind the 2nd safety car. The Red Bull driver could be penalized either 5 seconds or 10 seconds. Arriving almost 7″5 behind the winner, the Ferrari driver still has a small chance of winning the Grand Prix if the stewards decide to penalize Pérez.

Regardless, the Monegasque scored his 8th podium of the season in Singapore, but has still not won a race since his victory in Austria. Thanks to this 2nd place, Leclerc postponed the coronation of Verstappen at the next event, at Suzuka (October 7-9). Still 2nd in the drivers' standings, he is now 104 points behind the Dutchman.
