Leclerc encouraged by Ferrari’s “promising” pace

Ferrari continues its recovery operation and the first results are enough to (re)give a smile to Charles Leclerc et Sebastian Vettel

The Maranello house brought a 3rd series of new features to the Portuguese Grand Prix in an attempt both to improve a poorly born SF1000 but also to best prepare for the development of the car who will succeed him.

Even if the opening day in the Algarve was choppy to say the least, with a particularly slippery track and several session interruptions, the initial verdict was positive among the Italian clan.

« The results are pretty good, declared Leclerc, 4th and 3rd in the first two free sessions of the Lusitanian weekend, discussing the latest developments.

Let's wait and see what it does in long stints because we haven't driven much with a full tank and the usual tires.

This was our weak point during the last race so we will be in a bit of an unknown for Sunday. On the other hand, the pace over one lap is promising. »

His teammate Vettel was more measured in his debriefing after only being able to complete a single flying lap with the new features. His 6th fastest time in EL2, however, lends credence to the theory of a return to form for Ferrari, even if it seems to be reflected more in qualifying than in the race for the moment.
