As is customary when Ferrari encounters difficulties, the team principal is regularly held primarily responsible for the situation. In this delicate 2025 season, Frédéric Vasseur is no exception, and is beginning to be the subject of controversy in Italy. Although there is no indication of an immediate decision on the part of Maranello, the subject reached the ears of the pilots present in Montreal.

Pilot historically supported by the French director, Lewis Hamilton was among the first to come to his defense. His teammate, Charles Leclerc, also spoke out about the future of his superior, mentioning his own case, which was also the subject of debate.

"I don't comment on the rumors that I want to leave Ferrari. You know that I love Ferrari and I want to win the world championship with this team, he recalled to the microphone of Sky Sports. Regarding Fred, these are rumors that I don't like to hear. We have to focus on where we can make a difference, on the track. So we're going to put an end to these rumors, I have nothing to comment on., he replied pragmatically.. I believe in Fred as Fred has always believed in me and we hope to do it together."

Carlos Sainz supports Vasseur despite his departure from Ferrari

Quick to recall that the development of the car of 2026 is underway, however requiring the approval of Frédéric Vasseur with a view to a total concentration directed towards the coming year, Charles Leclerc adopted a speech favorable to his team director similar to that of Carlos Sainz, now at Williams.

"It's always the same story. As soon as the results aren't there at Ferrari, the media gets agitated, and chaos emerges, commented the SpaniardI have a great relationship with Fred. Obviously, we went through a difficult month when he didn't want me and signed Lewis, but other than that, we've made peace. I get on well with him. I've always held him in high regard as a team principal but also as a person."

At this stage, Ferrari could plan a final package of upgrades starting with the Silverstone Grand Prix, before probably migrating to 2026 in the event of anticipated disappointment.

Vasseur's first mistake was accepting Hamilton at Ferrari! That's no place for an old champion who still thinks he's the head of F1, poor guy! But is Vasseur really at fault for that...no, it was the boss of Fiat who wanted it, and Vasseur couldn't do anything. And this circus around Hamilton didn't help matters...
