Charles Leclerc did well in qualifying for the Hungarian GP. The Monegasque took 4th position, ahead of his teammate by a few thousandths Sebastian Vettel on the Hungarian turnstile where overtaking is known to be difficult.
The pilot Ferrari however, feared a much more disappointing result. At the end of Q1 where he had already secured a good time, the Monegasque spun at the exit of the last corner. The impact against the wall of tires damaged his rear wing and launched the mechanics into a race against time to get his car be repaired for Q2.
That was a nasty impact!

“I was very lucky to be able to leave, recognized Charles Leclerc. I must thank the team for the work accomplished. It was a completely unnecessary mistake at this stage of qualifying. That's two mistakes I've made in the space of two Grands Prix. If the first was understandable, this one is clearly not acceptable. It could have been much worse if I had stayed in the wall. I have to learn from these mistakes and work on them. »
Despite the stress, the Ferrari driver was still able to recover well, finishing just over 2 tenths behind. Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes).
“I had a very positive Q3. We are certainly half a second from pole and it is not the position we want to be in, but I am satisfied with my time”, he admitted.
