Expected among the Top 10 in qualifying, Charles Leclerc (Ferrari) saw his day end earlier than expected with a 12th fastest time and an elimination from Q2.

" (I have one) Mixed feeling after qualifying, admitted the representative of the Scuderia, a bit disappointed after his session. We were aware of the risk of not making it to Q3 because we wanted to do our fastest lap of Q2 on medium tires in order to respect our strategy. The lap itself was good but unfortunately some of our rivals finished ahead of us with the same rubber which is disappointing ».

On the 6th row of the starting grid, Charles Leclerc will have to pull out all the stops this Sunday in order to move up the rankings. Luckily, the Monegasque remains on a good performance on the Red Bull Ring with a comeback from last to 7th place during the Styrian Grand Prix.

« Our race pace has been very good since the start of the weekend and we have a free choice of tires for the start. We must precisely analyze our strategy to have the best this Sunday knowing that several cars in front start on medium tires. This makes the task a little more difficult and reduces our advantage (from the choice of erasers). We will give everything and do our best ».

Meet at 15:00 p.m. AUTOhebdo to follow the Austrian Grand Prix in live text.
