Leclerc “not obsessed” with the quest for his first career victory

Charles Leclerc should have been part of the prestigious circle of Grand Prix winners since the Bahrain round last month but an engine problem decided otherwise. The former champion of Formula 2 has not yet had the opportunity to obtain compensation but assures that this is not its main concern.

« It's not the obsession of the moment, reacted the Monegasque from Baku when asked about his possible impatience. I'm more focused on doing my best in the car and extracting its full potential. The results will follow.

Afterwards, I naturally look forward to that moment – if it ever comes. I work for that. But I'm not obsessed with it. I don't think that would be a healthy approach, to only think about winning. Let's first think about getting the car to the top of its capabilities.

I will do everything to win but I don't know if this first success will come here or elsewhere. It would be good news to get it here but if not I will have to wait. With the aim of shortening the wait as much as possible of courser”.

Like his teammate Sebastian Vettel, Leclerc was unable to answer questions about the stable instructions of the Team at the start of the season. True to his conciliatory nature, the 21-year-old did not try to add fuel to the fire.

« It's frustrating to be ordered to let someone pass, but I understand the team's position, Leclerc simply replied. Seb has been with them for five years and has won four titles. I am only in my second campaign in Formula 1. I still have a lot to prove and it's up to me to do the best job possible behind the wheel to show the team what I'm capable of. »

We still hope that the Scuderia realized a long time ago that it had a nugget in its hands.
