Charles Leclerc could hardly hope for better in Austin. Starting from twelfth position on the starting grid in Texas after a penalty for new engine elements, the Monegasque moved up to third position at the finish. A time to struggle with Red Bull and not so far from the duel for the win between Max Verstappen et Lewis Hamilton, the pilot of the Team was, however, never able to get close enough to hope to win, the fault of one car who has worn out his rubber too much.

“I am satisfied in a sense because we started from twelfth place, so a podium is a good achievement, but looking at the race it's obviously a bit disappointing, admitted Charles Leclerc. We had the pace but then we had a little too much degradation towards the end of the race. We will work on this. It was a great battle with Sergio and later with Max. We have to continue working to challenge them a little more towards the end of the races. Once again I felt like we were limited by tire degradation. »

“It’s little details here and there, Leclerc said when asked about how Ferrari kept its problems under control. We've sometimes done things right, sometimes we've done things wrong, but we just need to be on top more consistently, so we have to try to understand the dynamics of it all, and so that's the process that we go through in this moment. The rhythm is there. We were strong all weekend, but towards the end we ran out of tires – and that was difficult. »

A point that will need to be worked on by Scuderia Ferrari for the 2023 season if the Italian team wishes to fight for the title, in the same way as the rigor demanded by Charles Leclerc.
