Leclerc will hold Ferrari accountable

Charles Leclerc was well on his way to securing his third consecutive victory at the Singapore GP. Starting from pole on the Marina Bay circuit where overtaking is difficult, the Monegasque retained the advantage over his teammate Sebastian Vettel until the four-time world champion came through the pits.

Surprised by the German's attack, Charles Leclerc changed his tires quickly after the first Ferrari. But that wasn't enough to prevent Sebastian Vettel from taking the lead and securing his first victory of the season.

Charles Leclerc repeatedly questioned his team about this choice which destroyed their chances of victory during the race and showed himself annoyed and frustrated on several occasions.

“I don't really understand why you let Vettel undercut me like that. We will discuss it after the race, said the double winner on his radio”, he indicated on the 38th lap.

After the checkered flag, Charles Leclerc was able to take a step back from the situation even if he did not hide his disappointment at having come so close to a third success.

“It's always difficult to lose a victory like this, but I have to be happy with this result for the team who won their first double of the season. We were hoping to eventually make the podium and we have to be happy today even if it wasn't the result I wanted. These are things that happen. The strategy was established at the start of the race and I stuck to the plan that had been made,” he said.

Charles Leclerc occupies 3rd place tied on points with Max Verstappen (Red Bull), 31 points from Valtteri Bottas (Mercedes) before the Russian GP played next weekend in Sochi.
