In qualifying, the Monegasque took the upper hand over both Red Bull to sign his 4th pole position in a row. This Sunday, the battle should still be tough between Red Bull and Ferrari for victory as has been the case since the start of the season.

Behind the two stables, Mercedes et Alpha Tauri are in ambush for 5th place. George Russell will start in 5th position but with the potential safety cars, the Briton could aim higher in the event of a failure of a Red Bull or a Ferrari. The task will still be complicated for the two Britons while the W13 still suffers from porpoising on the straight.

On the side of the Tricolores, Pierre Gasly is very well placed to score big points in Baku. The Norman will start from 6th place on the starting grid on a circuit where he is comfortable (podium in 2021. Esteban Ocon experienced more difficulties in Q2. A yellow flag prevented him from improving his mark and he will start in 12th position. But'Alpine has good top speed and could allow the Frenchman to grab places.
