The Alpine A110 Cup / GT and the Clio Cup Open in support of the French Grand Prix

If the weekend of Grand Prix of France will no longer host the FIA series F2 and FIA F3 at Paul Ricard next June, spectators will be able to admire two tourism events featuring thees Alpine A110 and the Renault Clio Cup.

Owners of the Cup versions of theAlpine, seen in the Europa Cup will face A110 GT4s, regularly entered in the series promoted by SRO Motorsports in recent years (FFSAGT, GT4 European Series…). A specific ranking will be established by car category at the end of a weekend comprising two free practice sessions, two qualifying sessions and two races.

“We are extremely proud to be able to perform as a curtain raiser for the French Grand Prix of Formula 1, indicates Philippe Sinault, director of Signatech, responsible for the development of Alpine A110 Cup and GT4.

The Paul Ricard Circuit and Alpine share a rich history where the French Grands Prix have often been a common denominator. In this year 2020 when the Formula 1 World Championship celebrates its seventieth anniversary, Alpine its sixty-five years and the Circuit Paul Ricard its fifty years, we are therefore delighted to make such a nod to history while offering a real showcase to all our competitors! »

In addition to Alpine, the Renault Clio Cups will battle on the track. Competitors from the different national series will take part in this Clio Cup Open with the fifth generation of the Diamond Bombinette.

“After the real plebiscite that we experienced in 2019, since nearly fifty competitors competed on the track, it was logical for Renault to repeat the operation in 2020, admits Benoit Nogier, Racing Sales Director of Renault Sport Racing.

This Clio Cup Open is an opportunity to highlight Renault’s versatility in motorsport by bringing together Clio Cup and Formula 1 in the same event.”
