The BMWs are ready to fight

Obviously, Robert Kubica can no longer wait for the season to kick off, impatient to learn more about everyone's potential and to know if he will have a chance to fight. for the title this year.

“I'm really looking forward to being on the starting grid for the Australian Grand Prix. I'm excited, the season will finally resume and all the speculation heard during winter testing will finally stop. It will be very interesting to see how competitive the teams really are, in order to assess our level and learn a little more about ourselves. »

The Pole is particularly fond of the Melbourne circuit, which he considers to be a demanding track where it is important to always stay on the right trajectory.

“I like urban circuits in general and Albert Park is no exception, it is without a doubt one of my favorite circuits. It's a track that requires a lot of precision from the drivers, because you always have to stay on the clean side of the track to avoid getting trapped. Even more so this year, since in the first corner in particular, just after the start, we will fight our first battles with these very wide front wings. There might be a spectacle! I am convinced that this race will be very interesting. In addition to all this, the atmosphere that reigns in this city and among its inhabitants makes it always pleasant to start the season here. »

His teammate Nick Heidfeld is also eager to start the season. The German is particularly curious to have the answers to several questions raised this winter, in particular that of the introduction of the KERS system and the impact that the new aerodynamic regulations will have on overtaking.

“This time I am particularly curious to see how it will unfold, how the teams and drivers will behave. A lot has changed since last year and we all have a lot of unanswered questions. What effect will KERS, slick tires and front wings have in racing? What will happen at the start, when we are next to each other with larger front wings, which we can't even see from the cabin, for the first time? Will overtaking be easier as we saw during private testing sessions? »

“Last year, the winter tests did not go as we expected, but we still surprised everyone with our performance in Australia. This time it went better for us and I hope we will continue this trend in Melbourne”
