2017 season figures from Pirelli

Like every end of the season, Pirelli reveals the main figures collected over the year. The Italian manufacturer had a lot to do in 2017 by working with a larger diameter of rubber and on more efficient single-seaters, thus increasing the constraints on its products.

Pirelli supplied a total of 38 tires over the season. Of these, 788 were reserved for race weekends and 33 for testing. In this list there were 520 slicks and 5268 grooved. The manufacturer of the F1 recycled them all.

There were on average 26,7 pit stops per Grand Prix, or an average of 1,5 per driver. The record for stops was achieved at the Azerbaijan GP in Baku with 41 stops compared to only 18 at the Austrian GP on the Red Bull ring.

As for overtaking, Pirelli counted 435, with an average of 21,8 per race. The discipline provider only recorded the maneuvers performed in a flying lap. The maneuvers carried out at the start are therefore not listed. The record for overtaking was set in Baku with 42 maneuvers, while the Russian GP in Sochi was the calmest with only one overtaking to report.

Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull) was the biggest attacker with 43 overtakes to his name, including 13 at the British GP at Silverstone alone. His teammate Max Verstappen et Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) are the best defenders since they have only been overtaken twice.

The fastest race of the year was once again the Italian GP. Lewis Hamilton won the event on the fast Monza track at an average speed of 243,626km/h. At maximum speed, it is Sebastian Vettel which panicked the speedometers with a peak recorded at 362,4 km/h at the Mexican GP.

In total, Pirelli received data after driving a total of 329km this year.
