UK-based teams join forces against COVID-19

The 7 stables of Formula 1 based wholly or partly in the UK – i.e. Mercedes, Red Bull, Renault, McLaren, RacingPoint, Haas, Williams – have all responded to the call from the government and other British organizations and its partners as part of a project called “Pitlane”.

The members of this collective have thus agreed to pool their resources, their know-how, and their production force to quickly develop medical equipment, in particular respiratory assistance devices, and respond to the unprecedented health crisis which is hitting the world.

The “Pitlane” project is thus structured around 3 axes: reverse engineering, which makes it possible to understand the manufacturing process of medical equipment, the sizing of production according to existing ventilator concepts, and the design and validation new devices that could be produced quickly and on a large scale.
