The United States remains a major axis of development for Liberty Media

When taking control of the F1 by Liberty Medium, the United States logically appeared as one of the major future projects for the American entity in the development of the discipline.

And when Vietnam or the Netherlands will strengthen the calendar in 2020, still no trace of a second event in the country of Uncle Sam in addition to Austin, Texas. But those responsible are still working, with two hoped-for destinations.

“We are talking about adding races in Las Vegas or Miami, says Chase Carey, CEO of F1, during a conference call to discuss the latest 2019 financial results.

We have been engaged on this since last year and I think we are making progress. I had meetings with the relevant parties last week. We think it's important, we're making progress. »

Remember that serious discussions with Miami had been initiated but disagreements with residents of the possible Florida route had led to a postponement of a possible arrival of the city on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean.

But other avenues for seeing greater support from the American public remain on the agenda. “We are talking about the potential arrival of new stables, while we aim to strengthen the owners' business model, continues Carey.

As an American team, we have Haas, and we would like to add a top American team. Additionally, we would like to have an American pilot, but it would take longer.

We know there are several elements that still need to be improved and built upon to engage our fan base here. This continues to be a priority. The first step would probably be to add a race in a city like Miami or Las Vegas. »
