Renault's developments have borne fruit according to Hülkenberg

Renault is one of the stars this weekend in England to mark the 40 years of presence of the French brand in F1. But in addition to this celebration of the past, the 17 RS 2017 showed itself to its advantage this Saturday in qualifying, thanks to Nico Hulkenberg.

Sixth in the session, but fifth on the grid thanks to the penalty imposed on Valtteri Bottas for a gearbox change on its Mercedes W08, the former winner of 24 Hours of Le Mans said he was more than satisfied with his British performance.

« Today we had a successful qualification and we will start the race just behind the top teams, says Hülkenberg. I had a good rhythm and we had some good moments. The team made the right choices for the right track conditions.

I felt calm and confident with the car to produce a good lap. The updates we made here this weekend also seem to have played their part in our progress. That said, tomorrow's race remains the real test. Let's try to have a clean race. We will attack very hard and I will be very happy to bring home points. »

Palmer fails in Q2

Behind the standard Hülkenberg, Jolyon Palmer was unable to hoist the second RS 17 into Q3, beaten by Romain Grosjean (Haas) at the end of the second part of qualifying.

« We will start in a much better position than in the last few races, so hopefully we can progress and score points tomorrow, however, specifies the Briton. I'm pretty confident that we can have a good race. »
