The Ferrari were in the spotlight in the first practice session of the German GP at Hockenheim. Sebastian Vettel set the benchmark with a lap completed in 1'14''013 with more than 2 tenths ahead of his teammate Charles Leclerc.
The Mercedes were a little further behind, Lewis Hamilton et Valtteri Bottas framing the Red Bull de Max Verstappen. The two W10s explored the limits of the track, the Finn even going into the gravel trap at the end of the session. Pierre Gasly (Red Bull) completed the Top 6 monopolized by the top teams.

Carlos Sainz Jr. (McLaren) followed in 7th place ahead Romain Grosjean (Haas), Lance stroll (Racing Point) and Daniel Ricciardo (Renault), author of a spin in the last minutes. Sergio Pérez (Racing Point) finished at the foot of the Top 10 in front Lando Norris (McLaren) and Kevin Magnussen (Haas) which precede the Toro Rosso by Daniil Kvyat and Alexander albon despite a mechanical problem encountered at the start of the session on his VF19 which had the latest developments unlike his French teammate. His stop on track led to a brief interruption of the session.
Nico Hulkenberg (Renault) is 16th ahead of Alfa Romeo by Kimi Räikkönen and Antonio Giovinazzi and the Williams by Robert Kubica and George Russell.
EL2 of the German GP will be contested from 15 p.m. and will be broadcast live on Canal+ Sport.
