The Mercedes as well as the single-seaters of customer teams, namely Force India and Williams, have the latest developments made by the German engine manufacturer for the French GP at Paul-Ricard (Var) after a moment of uncertainty. The supplier of the star engines has also confirmed that the developments should be kept for the rest of the weekend following the first tests on Friday.
While these developments were planned for the Canadian GP held on June 10 at the Gilles Villeneuve circuit in Montreal, Mercedes took the opportunity to bring its "2.0" evolution to "2.1", suggesting that it has had time to optimize this new version of the Power Unit.
The six F1 powered by Mercedes blocks therefore received a new ICE (internal combustion engine), a new turbo as well as a new MGU-H for the Castellet route.
“These new elements are in an optimized version to optimize performance and reliability”, announced the engine manufacturer.
