The team presentation Alpine F1 Team for the 2021 season caused reactions on social networks, particularly due to the temporary decoration of the car A521.
The car was in fact revealed in a matte black livery punctuated with a logo Alpine tricolor, in a spirit very similar to the design of the 2020 winter tests when the team was still called Renault.

Antony villain, the Design Director for Alpine, explains the choice of this non-permanent decoration. “Give a strong and specific identity to Formula 1 but also to the entire competition program ofAlpine is obvious and fortunate. By placing motorsport at the center of our approach, graphic identity is key.
The livery presented is the first evocation of the new identity of the team Alpine F1 Team. Certain structuring graphic elements will remain on the racing livery and others will evolve. The emblem Alpine “oversize” and its three-color graphic approach is the first strong symbol of the brand's identity in competition.
When you look at the car in profile, this logo evokes the French flag. But if you look at it from above, then you will see the British flag! This is a detail that we greatly appreciate because it represents the historic collaboration between our factory Viruses-Châtillon (Essonne) and the Enstone factory (England)."
The black color is a nod to the prototype Alpine A500, the French manufacturer's development single-seater in 1975 before the Losange took over.
