Force India drivers confident for Montreal

After obtaining a very good result at the Monaco Grand Prix (3rd place for Sergio Pérez and 6th place for Nico Hulkenberg), Force India is preparing for a completely different event with the Canadian Grand Prix.

The Gilles Villeneuve circuit in Montreal will be a good opportunity to exploit the performance of the Power Unit of Mercedes.

“Montreal is one of my favorite circuits”, explains Sergio Pérez, ninth in the Championship six points behind Valtteri Bottas. “I got on the podium in 2012 (3rd), I competed in one of my best races there in 2014 (which ended in a collision with Felipe Massa when the two drivers were fighting for 4th place in the penultimate round). It's an old school layout. Although it is much faster than that of Monaco, they have certain characteristics in common. It’s a circuit that rewards bravery and punishes every mistake. The driver can make the difference. »

“We have often experienced unpredictable races in Canada and you always have to keep an eye on the weather. We can perform well here and we have had big differences on the car since we had the latest upgrades. I have confidence behind the wheel, I feel capable of attacking and that is very important on a circuit like Montreal”, insists the Mexican.

Nico Hülkenberg shares his teammate's enthusiasm as he falls nine points behind the former driver McLaren occupying 14th place in the Championship.

“It’s always one of the most important meetings of the season… I love riding there. The track is demanding. You have to get on the curbs while brushing against the walls... The strategies will be aggressive since we will have the softest tires in the range, but these tires worked well for us in Monaco”, underlines the last winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans with Porsche.

Force India moved up to fifth place in the Constructors' Championship following its prolific weekend in Monaco. The Indian team is seven points ahead of Toro Rosso.
