It is a fact, the F1 finally gave in to the insistence of the Andretti-Cadillac-GM association and accepted the latter's application to host an 11th grid team. This will not be before 2026 given the timing and under the name Cadillac according to the first communications. News that was very well received in the paddock, especially by the drivers, happy to see the grid finally expand.
« It's exciting, smiled Pierre Gasly on the Qatar side. It will be the first time I will participate in a race with 22 cars in F1. There will be more rivals, probably more action, more racing. It's exciting.. " And Charles Leclerc to add.
« This is the first time in my career that I will be on a 22-car grid, and it’s very exciting. I also think there are a lot of young drivers waiting for a place in Formula 1, and this will obviously provide more opportunities for very talented young drivers who dream of making it to Formula 1. »
For its part, Valtteri Bottas, sidelined in 2025 after not being extended by Sauber, now sees Cadillac as a way to return to competition quickly. It's a great brand, says the Finn. I think it will be great for F1. And it also means there are two more seats for 2026, which is a good thing. »
