John Surtees has expressed his dissatisfaction with the choice to double points at the final Grand Prix of the year in Abu Dhabi. The former world champion still thinks that Red Bull is capable of achieving a quintuple.

John Surtees is not among the defenders of double points at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The 1964 world champion joins the supporters who criticize this “artificial” stratagem to maintain suspense until the end of the Championship. “It’s just a commercial gimmick”, commented the Briton on NBC. “This is an attempt to change the results of the Championship or the races, it is not the true spirit of what we should be aiming for. »

The former world champion does not want to make predictions, as the new regulations are likely to change the hierarchy.
