The wait lasted almost three hours. After six postponements of the session, the FIA decided at 23 p.m. French time to postpone the qualifying session for the United States Grand Prix to Sunday morning, 9 a.m. local time (15 p.m. French time). A choice that could not be more logical given the dire weather conditions on the Circuit of The Americas route in Austin, Texas.
The second practice session had already been canceled yesterday on the other side of the Atlantic. Earlier in the day, the third test session was able to take place, but in more than complicated driving conditions, however allowing Lewis Hamilton to stand out. Holding qualifying tomorrow in the United States would allow the FIA to avoid constituting the starting grid according to the result of EL3.
