Qualifying would not change in Bahrain

New development concerning the format of qualifications in F1. If the teams seemed to have reached an agreement just after the Australian Grand Prix last weekend in Melbourne, to return to the old version seen until the end of 2015, the elimination system introduced for this 2016 season should be renewed for the second round of the season, from April 1 to 3 in Bahrain on the Sakhir track.

A new about-face to be attributed to the governing bodies of F1, while the GPDA published an open letter yesterday, specifying its wish to see reforms in the decision-making system at the highest level of the discipline.

“The bottom line is it’s going to stay that way. After Bahrain, we will study the question. » said Bernie Ecclestone, cited by Reuters, while a vote within the F1 Strategy Group took place today.

Ecclestone also indicated to our colleagues at Gazzetta Dello Sport that he wanted to try to keep the “good side of the format”.
