The astonishing stats from Canadian GP qualifying

The Quebec qualifications firstly allowed Renault to sign his best performance in Formula 1 since the Japanese Grand Prix in October 2010. At the time, Robert Kubica placed the R30 fourth in testing, just like Daniel Ricciardo in Montreal on Saturday.

In addition, this is the first time since the 2012 edition that both McLaren reached the final phase of qualifying together, with Carlos Sainz Jr and Lando Norris. Seven years ago, Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button had respectively achieved the second and 10th fastest times.

Finally, Kimi Räikkönen (Alfa Romeo) closed a remarkable four-year series of consecutive entries at least in Q2. The Finn had not suffered the pitfall of Q1 since testing for the Austrian Grand Prix in June 2015, a series of 80 passages in Q2 in a row!
