Pirelli's strategies for the British GP

Pirelli believes that most drivers will be able to try a one-stop strategy at the British GP if the weather remains stable. Pirelli was able to collect a lot of data with its medium and hard tires after testing for the British GP . The manufacturer of the F1 believes that whitewall rubber is good for “reasonably hot” temperatures but that orange tires will be more effective if the heat becomes overwhelming.

If the weather remains dry, something often unpredictable at Silverstone, Pirelli believes most drivers will be able to get by with just one stop“If the weather conditions remain unchanged, we will certainly be heading towards a one-stop race for the majority of drivers. But, you know, British weather is best known for its instability.”, confirmed Paul Hembery, Pirelli sporting director.

Pirelli's ideal strategy is to a start on mediums and a stop on the 23rd lap. The second option consists of adopting a two-stop strategy with the first two stints on medium tires with a stop on the 17th lap and a final stint on hard tires with a second stop on the 34th lap.
