The tops and flops of Monza

The Tops:

Brawn gp
At Monza, the Brawn GP of Rubens Barrichello and Jenson Button were imperial. Qualified in fifth and sixth position, the two residents of the team Brackley were on a one-stop strategy which turned out to be the right one. Fourth double of the season for Ross Brawn's men who now have a 40,5 point lead over Red Bull in the Manufacturers ranking.

Force India
After recording its first points at Spa-Francorchamps, the Force India team continued its momentum at Monza. Giancarlo Fisichella left for Ferrari, Adrian Sutil took over. Second on the grid and fourth at the finish, the German adds five new points to his team which is seven points behind Renault and BMW in the Manufacturers ranking. Before experiencing mechanical problems, Vitantonio Liuzzi was also fighting in the points.

Lewis Hamilton
Qualified in pole position for the second time this season, Lewis Hamilton (McLaren) made a perfect takeoff and fought like hell throughout the GP. Unfortunately, his team?s two-stop strategy made him lose two positions which he tried to recover until the end. His accident on the last lap illustrates the formidable combativeness of a driver who fights until the end.

The Flops

Red Bull
With just one point scored via Sebastian Vettel, the Red Bull team has probably let slip its last hopes of getting back on Brawn GP, author of a double, in the Manufacturers' standings. Vettel complained about the behavior of his car and Webber did not complete a lap. Another dark weekend to forget for Christian Horner's men.

Williams
Usually fast during the first free practices, the FW31s have suffered enormously over the last two Grand Prix. Unable to reach Q2, Nico Rosberg and Kazuki Nakajima started at the back of the grid. At the finish, Rosberg did not enter the points for the first time since the Bahrain GP last April. “We have to put this weekend behind us and focus on the next race where we should perform well,” assures the German.

Heikki Kovalainen
Thanks to a perfect qualification, Heikki Kovalainen (McLaren) had all the assets in his game? a one-stop strategy – to go for victory but he proved unable to resist the Brawn GP from the start before losing two more positions shortly after. Sixth at the finish ?thanks? with his teammate Lewis Hamilton going off the road, he will have to pull himself together if he wants to keep his seat for 2010.
