Lewis Hamilton hopes to repeat 2015 stunt

Lewis Hamilton ultimately did not appear so disappointed with his result in qualifying for the Japanese Grand Prix this Saturday at Suzuka. Certainly beaten by a tiny margin of 13 thousandths by his teammate at Mercedes Nico Rosberg, the Briton knows that this position is in no way prohibitive for victory tomorrow.

And for good reason. In a similar position last year, Hamilton grilled Rosberg at the first corner, before going to win on Japanese soil. “Naturally with more laps I suppose you can always find more time, but generally I'm very happy with this position.

History has shown that you don't necessarily have to be on pole to achieve victory. But Nico did an excellent job throughout the weekend. »

Hamilton also specified that he had changed his settings a lot this weekend on his W07 Hybrid. “It was a weekend with a lot of work undertaken to get the set-up right and some big changes came ahead of qualifying.

Considering that, being so close, satisfies me. I gave everything I could... I did as well as I could, I think... It's not so easy to go into qualifying with a completely different car that's why I'm relatively satisfied. We are in a good position for tomorrow. »
