Lewis Hamilton proud to have left McLaren

Lewis Hamilton is happy with him. “It?s nice to prove people wrong”. Target of numerous criticisms and questions when he announced, at the end of 2012, that he was leaving McLaren to join Mercedes, the Briton is today convinced that he made the right choice.

After some technical problems encountered at the very start of winter testing in Jerez, the Silver Arrows continued to increase the pace and produced promising performances throughout the pre-season tests. Good form which was confirmed in Melbourne, Australia, during the first Grand Prix of the season. Already in qualifying, Lewis Hamilton set the 3rd time, while his teammate Nico Rosberg was 6th, far ahead of the McLarens: Jenson Button started 10th, and Sergio Pérez 15th.

If the German retired from the race due to an electronic problem, the 2008 world champion was satisfied with a 5th place, again ahead of his former teammate, Jenson Button, who had to fight hard to win. both points for 9th place. “Everyone criticized me, especially the former pilots who felt it was the worst decision I could make”, remembers Lewis Hamilton. “Mercedes worked well, I am very proud of my team. I’m also proud of my decision.”
