Lewis Hamilton: “I was all alone during the Grand Prix”

Free practice 1 and 3, qualifying and race. Lewis Hamilton dominated the weekend in Hungary from start to finish. With a three-second lead from the first lap of the Grand Prix, the Briton constantly widened the gap on his opponents, who never saw him again before the checkered flag.

“It’s one of the most enjoyable races of my career. I was all alone during the Grand Prix and it was a different challenge, commented the winner as he got out of his car.

The strategy was perfect, as were the pit stops. We had to manage the mediums for a long time before putting on fresh tires and going for the best lap in the race. Believe it or not, we continue to attack relentlessly”

Thanks to this 86th career victory, including eight in Hungary, Lewis Hamilton takes the lead in the championship by five points ahead of his teammate Valtteri Bottas, who finished “only” third. The mishaps and questions from the first Grand Prix of the season, in Austria, are already far behind us.

“During the first weekend of competition, I took 2-3 shots that I didn't see coming. » recalls the Briton. Faulty when overtaking Alexander albon, Hamilton was penalized five seconds and then finished fourth in a race won by Bottas.

“I set about regaining my concentration as I do between each race. The last two rounds were very good. This weekend, we were in it from the kick-off. »

He will want to continue this dynamic at the next meeting at Silverstone, at home in Great Britain, where he has won five of the last six editions. His victory here in Hungary, the eighth on the Budapest turnstile, also allowed him to equal Michael Schumacher the greatest number of victories in the same event. And thus enter a little more into the History of the F1.
