Lewis Hamilton: “I couldn't even resist the Haas! »

Eliminated from Q1 this Saturday in qualifying, Lewis Hamilton finally started from 15th position after the withdrawal of Mick Schumacher (Haas). No start from the pit lane for the seven-time world champion therefore, he who had mentioned this possibility with the aim of bringing major developments to an undriveable W13 in Jeddah. The Englishman had opted for a first stint on hard tires, like Nico Hulkenberg (Aston Martin) and Kevin Magnussen (Haas), while the other 15 drivers (tsunoda was also a non-starter) set off on medium tires.

A strategy which allowed Lewis Hamilton to move up to seventh place after the Safety Car triggered following the track exit of Nicholas latifi (Williams) and the first judgments that resulted from it. The British driver then found himself in the middle of a battle with Magnussen's Haas, an incongruous image if we go back a year. Except that the change in technical regulations has happened and while the Mercedes still looking for a solution to all their new problems, the American team and its Danish returnee found a real revival in form in these first two races of the year.

“I did everything I could to get a point, but it was a pretty poor race, noted the pilot at the Canal + microphone. I wasn't very comfortable yesterday (Saturday) with the car and I couldn't anticipate that it would possibly be different today (Sunday). I gave it my all, but I was so slow. I couldn't even resist the Haas! We have a lot of work to do. » At the finish of this second Saudi Arabian Grand Prix in history, Lewis Hamilton had to settle for the point of tenth place, one place behind Magnussen. This says a lot about the lack of performance of the eight-time constructors' world champion team.
