Lewis Hamilton: “The pace wasn’t there”

Just like in Malaysia, Lewis Hamilton concludes his Chinese weekend with a third place on the podium. But the Briton, who started from pole position, hoped for better in Shanghai, a circuit where Mercedes, his team, won its one and only victory last year, since his return in 2010. “I don’t really know where we are losing the race”, explains the 2008 world champion. “Today the overall pace just wasn't there. There are definitely a few areas we need to focus on. We have developments and we must continue to progress, we have to find where we are wasting time and try to focus on that to progress.

Despite everything, Lewis Hamilton is satisfied with a good weekend. “I'm still happy with my third place, even if I wanted to win. They (Alonso and Raïkkönen, Editor’s note) were a little too fast for us during this race, I'm lucky to be on the podium". In the Drivers' standings, Lewis Hamilton is in fourth place, with 40 points. Still at Mercedes, his teammate Nico Rosberg retired.
