Lewis Hamilton wary despite pole

In Barcelona, Lewis Hamilton won the 92nd pole of his career by just ahead of his teammate (59 thousandths) Valtteri Bottas. To achieve this best time, the task was not easy both due to the weather and the degradation of the tires and the Briton is aware of this.

« It's very hard physically (...) The tires also suffer. During the exit lap you could see us driving slowly to keep the tires warm but even so they didn't stop heating up. ».

Although relieved to have been able to set the best time, Lewis Hamilton did not have a very easy session. “ I couldn't be faster during my second flying lap. I thought I could do it but it wasn't such a good round but that means maybe the first one was. Luckily, this trick allowed me to fulfill the contract ».

As for the race, the six-time world champion is aware that it will not be an easy task: “ The path to the first turn is very long. This is far from being certain. It is very difficult to follow each other here. Yes my position on the grid is good but it won't be easy from pole. I will try to give the best of myself ».

The start of the Spanish Grand Prix is scheduled for 15:10 p.m. this Sunday.
