Lewis Hamilton extends with Mercedes for three seasons

It was one of the soap operas that had been livening up the paddock for several weeks. This time, it's official, Lewis Hamilton extended his contract with the team Mercedes, for three additional seasons, until 2018.

Arriving in 2013 at Mercedes and under contract until the end of 2015, the negotiations between the Briton and the German team took time, the extension initially having to be recorded at the end of the 2014 championship, but constantly postponed, making notably giving rise to rumors Ferrari.

« Mercedes is my home and I can't be happier to stay here for three more years, Hamilton comments. This is a team built with passionate people, from the boardroom to the factory floor, with an incredible hunger to win. Even after the success of 2014, this desire is greater than ever – and it is the same for me. The Mercedes I currently drive is the best I have ever had in my career. » The Briton will therefore continue with the star clan, which has supported his career since 1998.

We took time with this process and did not rush, confesses Toto wolff, boss of Mercedes-Benz Motorsport. Personally, I look forward to continuing to run with the strongest pair of drivers in Formula One and I look forward to new historic achievements together. »
