While a vote takes place this Thursday at the municipal level to move the file forward, the Briton says he is ready to offer his advice in order to improve the route.
« Miami is a super cool city, said Hamilton from the Barcelona paddock. I was really excited when I heard about the project, and then I saw the layout. I don't want to draw any hasty conclusions before having had a spin behind the wheel, but if there is still time and my opinion or those of the other drivers are asked, I am convinced that we can provide a relevant vision and improve things.
I know Miami well and there are better places to install the track, for example. The idea of having a city circuit like the one in Valencia (scene of a not really memorable European Grand Prix from 2008 to 2012, editor's note) worries me a little because it wasn't an excellent urban route. That said, there is always an element of randomness and perhaps this provisional route will be a hit ».
Miami is one of Liberty Media's target destinations to receive the F1 just like Hanoi in Vietnam and Copenhagen in Denmark. The Florida city will already host a fan festival this season, ahead of the United States Grand Prix which takes place in Austin, Texas.
Below, the F1 track project in Miami unveiled in early May by Ken Russell, a senior city official.
Today got a first look at a potential map for @F1 in @downtownMIA. Most of course is in the port with a loop around AAArena. Would you like to see #Miami become a stop on the Formula One circuit? pic.twitter.com/sOY08hJ5yM
