Lewis Hamilton: “Simply honored”

The moment when Lewis Hamilton would equal the pole record of Michael Schumacher was expected this season. The Briton finally waited for the Belgian meeting at Spa, an important circuit in the career of the Red Baron and world champion, to achieve this feat this Saturday afternoon.

No one has been able to rise to the level of Hamilton, author of a new record for the Spa circuit in 1'42″553. « This is one of my favorite tracks, and to complete a tour like this is a dream. » admits the Briton just after receiving a congratulatory message from Michael Schumacher's family, and transmitted by Ross Brown.

“After hearing this message given by Ross, I must say a big thank you. I had the privilege of running with Michael. I'm just honored to reach his level. He remains the greatest, one of the greatest of all time. »

Hamilton will start alongside his rival for the title Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari), latest winner at the Hungaroring.
