Lewis Hamilton: “Too difficult to overtake”

Beaten again by Nico Rosberg after the Mexican Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton nevertheless tried everything to win for the first time on the Interlagos track in Brazil. But the World Champion came up against his teammate's No. 06 W6 Hybrid, despite several attempts to get closer during the event.

“I love this track, it’s such a beautiful circuit, but unfortunately, it's too difficult to overtake. You get closer to a second and you lose downforce and there's no way to get any closer. The DRS zone may not last long enough, if that were to be the difference. » Hamilton said at a press conference.

Asked about his desire to change strategy, the Briton clearly gave his point of view on the matter. “I just wanted to see if there was another strategic possibility. I'm here to run, so I'm looking at all the options. There certainly aren't just two options for pit stops.

We have to rely on the team. As I said, I looked for a few other opportunities there were because on the track, it wasn't looking good and contrary to what Nico said, there was a moment when I was very close but I couldn't pass. I couldn't get any closer being under a second and I had the fastest lap, so I obviously had the pace today. I think the team does a lot of simulations, and takes the two best ones, the ones we stay with. »
