Lewis Hamilton: “One title is not enough”

Vice-world champion in 2007 in his first season in F1, then World Champion in 2008, becoming the youngest driver to win the title before the advent of Sebastian Vettel in 2010, Lewis Hamilton believes that he requires de Win others world titles to be considered the best pilot of his generation.

On the other hand, the Briton denied that he thought he would have to leave the team McLaren to achieve this. From sa the first crown, Hamilton does not, however, have been able to repeat similar results with McLaren (5th in the championship in 2009, then 4th in 2010). In an interview with the Observer newspaper, the 26-year-old pilot confirmed that he was looking forward to returning to success.

“I'm not here to drive for ten years and only win one title,” he said. “I want to be one of the greatest drivers of this generation. So I want to win other titles. There is no other way to demonstrate it and have people recognize you as the best. I've only been in F1 for four years and I still have a lot to learn."

Will the stable in which he grew up allow him to achieve his goals? The inter-season tests do not, a priori, place McLaren among the favorites. However, Hamilton claims to see no reason to look elsewhere to achieve his objectives.

“Look at the history of McLaren. It's an incredible team. I haven't driven for other teams, but at McLaren there are some of the most fantastic people I've ever met. The way they look after their drivers is fantastic. It’s a unique team to work with. I feel privileged to be part of it. These are people who fight and I am a fighter” he concluded.
