Lewis Hamilton: “A perfect weekend”

Like last year, Lewis Hamilton took the time to savor his success on his Silverstone track, his fifth victory on this track, allowing him to equal Alain Prost and Jim Clark in the number of British Grand Prix won.

After celebrating his triumph on the podium, the Briton from Mercedes treated himself to a walkabout, even making people wait Valtteri Bottas and Kimi Räikkönen, already present at the press conference. The three-time world champion admitted to having achieved a faultless performance with his team this weekend.

« It's never easy, admits Hamilton. It's a feeling I really can't describe. It's incredible to be here. I'm so proud to see these big flags everywhere. The support this weekend has been overwhelming. I'm really proud to be able to do this for all of you. The team did an exceptional job. The car performed well, the team was generally impeccable, I'm so proud of everyone at the factory. »

Almost perfect equality

Lewis Hamilton has almost eliminated the gap separating him from Sebastian Vettel in the championship, only one point separating the two rivals before the next race in Hungary.

The old pilot McLaren also did not fail to congratulate his teammate Valtteri Bottas, who came back from ninth to second place, which offers Mercedes the double, and thus the opportunity to widen the gap against Ferrari. “Valtteri did an exceptional job. It's a perfect weekend for us. But there is still a long way to go for the championship.
