Lewis Hamilton would see different weekend formats

It’s the four-time world champion and title holder who says it. Faced with boring races in F1, notably on certain tracks on the calendar, Lewis Hamilton encourages the governing bodies of the discipline to work to restore a little more spectacle on the track.

The British Mercedes even puts forward some ideas on this subject. “It’s more exciting this year because these cars are better than they’ve ever been, but there are tracks where the races are really boring. We have to identify them and find how we can make them different, admits the Mercedes driver.

Inverted grid or something else, but you have to look. Anything different from now will, I’m sure, be interesting. For me, the big problem is that we have the same four days for 21 weekends, and it lacks surprises and dynamics. It should be different on certain circuits. »

The question of weekend formats regularly comes to the forefront when it comes to discussing possible avenues for change in F1. Recently, these are the qualifications, via the possible introduction of a Q4, which had been at the heart of the debates.
