Lewis Hamilton wanted Jenson Button

Even if Lewis Hamilton has always assured that he got along very well with Heikki Kovalainen, the 2008 World Champion directly suggested to Martin Whitmarsh that he take an interest in Jenson Button for the other's seat car of the team McLaren.

“You may not know this but I myself took my phone to pitch the idea to Martin,” announces Lewis Hamilton. “It was long before the negotiations began. I have no influence in the choice of driver but I asked if they were in contact. Jenson was the best driver available and he wanted the best driver possible. »

“I can’t win the constructors’ championship alone,” he continues. “I have to have the best teammate possible. We always want someone who pushes us to surpass ourselves. I had this in 2007? and sometimes in 2008 with Heikki. I have no doubt that Jenson will be difficult to beat. His results speak for themselves. »

Has Lewis Hamilton brought the wolf into the fold?
