Liberty Media in discussions to retain Singapore

The Singapore GP should remain on the calendar of the F1 these next few years. Liberty Media, the group that owns the discipline, has expressed its desire to keep this event which remains a highlight of the season since its arrival on the calendar in 2008. This Grand Prix is also included in the provisional calendar for the 2018 season under subject to confirmation by the owners of commercial rights.

“We haven’t signed a deal yet, but we’ve had positive discussions and it’s obviously our goal to get an extension that works for both parties. We are proud of this race and we want to obtain a long-term partnership”, said Chase Carey, executive director of Liberty Media, quoted by Reuters.

The press agency specified that ticket sales had, however, declined in recent years, going from 100 spectators over three days for the first edition to 000 people in 87.
