Free 2: doubled by Red Bull

After a first session dominated by McLaren, the Woking single-seaters shone less than in the morning, just like the sun. This second session begins in rather cool weather. Pedro de la Rosa (Sauber) starts like clockwork, having been unable to set any time in the morning. It's his teammate, Kamui Kobayashi, which achieves the first reference time (1?23??385).

Robert Kubica (Renault) took the lead, in 1:22:894, while Adrian Sutil (Force India) swerved into the grass, avoiding contact with the circuit protections. Vitaly Petrov (Renault) sets the best time (1:22??531) before his teammate catches up (1:21??937).

Michael Schumacher (Mercedes), rather comfortable this Friday, won the second time, in 1:21??962. In the process, he took the lead in 1:21:322. It is then that the red flag appears, Nico Hulkenberg making a mistake after skidding in the grass while going wide.

The session resumed around ten minutes later, the cars rushing onto the track to make up for lost time. THE Red Bull stood out from the start: Mark Webber took the best time from Michael Schumacher (1:21:272). The Australian put together fast laps and best times (1:21:063, 1:20:175, 1:20:186).

Fernando Alonso (Ferrari) approaches, in 1?20??850, and places himself in third place. But Sebastian Vettel (Red Bull) shows that he is still there and signs the best time of the day by going under 80 seconds (1:19:965).

The end of the session offers few upheavals on the scoreboard. On the other hand, Vitaly Petrov avoids leaving after having rubbed shoulders with Catalan gravel. A few minutes later, Jaime Alguersuari had to stop on the track due to a technical problem.

At the end of the 90-minute session, Red Bull returned to the front with a double, Sebastian Vettel ahead of Mark Webber. Behind, we find Michael Schumacher, third for the second time of the day. Fernando Alonso (Ferrari), fourth, ahead Lewis Hamilton (McLaren) and Robert Kubica (Renault).
